Murugan or Karthikeyan or Subramanyan is the commander-in-chief of the army of devas. He is the son of Shiva and Parvathi. Some of the other names of Murugan are Shanmugan, Saravanan, Aarumugan, Senthil, Kumaran etc. Some of the important festivals celebrated are Thai poosam, Skantha Shashti and Panguni uthiram.
